Temporary closure for Napier Library.

"Safety is our priority" says Council.

While we are aware of the inconvenience to the community, initial risks with the building's sprinkler system turned nasty when it was discovered a seismic event could bring down the roof.

The safety of staff, customers, and visitors to Napier is the Council's highest priority, and work is being done to ensure the building can re-open as quickly and safely as possible.

There is no date for re-opening and some parts of the building could be closed for a number of months. Where possible, the building will open in stages, to help minimise disruption and plans are underway to create a pop-up library.

In the meantime, library customers are able to access services from Taradale Library only and the summer reading programme will continue. Access to the archives and collections at the MTG off-site store will continue as normal – this includes collection tours.

The hours of Taradale Library will remain the same: 9.30 am - 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday, 10 am-4 pm Saturday and Sunday

WHERE CAN I RETURN MY BOOKS WHILE THE LIBRARY IS CLOSED? Napier Library returns bins are now closed. All other returns bins are open:  Taradale Library  Pak n Save Napier  Pak n Save Tamatea  Four Square Taradale
