The Cumulus Project

Dunedin City of Literature

Being Me is a beautiful short film and sensitive telling of a collaboration between internationally award-winning photographer Carlos Biggemann and Dunedin Public Libraries staff member.

Born in Bolivia, Carlos, who has Down’s Syndrome, moved to New Zealand with his family. It is through their love and support he has developed a resolute belief in his abilities. Meeting Kirstie enabled him to realise a dream of sharing his sky photographs in what was to become the Cumulus Project.

Creating a book of sky photography and poetry has long been a dream for Carlos.

The project involved several Dunedin poets, including Kirstie, in the creation of the book.  With wonderful images of Dunedin, the project celebrates the collaboration between writers, creatives and the public library in Dunedin, New Zealand’s City of Literature.
